The Mid-year update of the 2026 Global Report on Food Crises (GRFC) provides an evidence-based assessment of acute food insecurity, malnutrition and forced displacement across 39 of the 47 countries and territories covered by the 2026 GRFC. As of August 2026, improvements were recorded in 17 contexts, while conditions deteriorated in 15, particularly Bangladesh, Kenya, Madagascar, Nigeria and Somalia. Around 327 000 people were expected to face Catastrophe conditions during 2026, with a risk of Famine identified in Somalia, South Sudan and the Sudan.
