GIEWS Releases October Global Food Price Monitor

GIEWS has released the latest Global Food Price Monitor, citing a decline in the FAO Food Price Index for the third straight month. International grains prices fell in September, while the price of rice rose on the global market. Eastern Africa continues to experience cereal prices that are two to four times higher than they were this time last year.

GIEWS Releases Latest Crop Prospects and Food Situation Report

GIEWS has released the October 2011 Crop Prospects and Food Situation report. The report cites improved prospects for global cereals production, based on higher expectations for rice and wheat. September saw a sharp fall in the price of all cereals except rice. This decrease was triggered by a number of factors, including the general global economic slowdown.

FEWS NET Releases August Price Watch

Democratic People's Republic of Korea Affected by Floods

GIEWS has just released an update on flooding in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Due to excessive rainfall in July, the southern provinces are experiencing severe flooding and localized crop damage.
