LIVE WEBCAST September 2 - Road to New York: Keeping the SDGs' Agenda in Focus

Please join us below Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 12:15 PM to 1:45 PM (EDT) for a livestreaming policy seminar exploring challenges and solutions for attaining the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), organized by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI).

By the end of September 2015, world leaders will agree on the SDGs, which will in turn anchor the global development agenda for the next 15 years. Keeping the focus on the key aims is critical to help unify efforts toward achieving multiple SDGs, yet there is still a lack of clarity on the goals and targets addressing poverty, hunger, malnutrition, and sustainability. Questions remain on how to measure and track progress, how such efforts will be financed, and who is accountable for what. As we welcome the historical launch of the SDGs, there is an urgent need to share knowledge on these issues to help chart a way forward.

The discussion will be moderated by Nabeeha Kazi, President and CEO of Humanitas Global, an international development agency based in Washington, DC. Expert panelists will include:

  • Andrew Steer of the World Resources Institute,
  • Homi Kharas, senior fellow and deputy director for the Global Economy and Development program at the Brookings Institution,
  • Francisco Ferreira, World Bank's Chief Economist for the Africa Region,
  • Shenggen Fan, IFPRI Director General,
  • and Claudia Ringler, Deputy Division Director of IFPRI's Environment and Production Technology Division.
