Maize serves as a primary source of nourishment for human diets in numerous regions, with its consumption in various forms such as cornmeal and corn syrup. It is a key ingredient in a myriad of food products, from tortillas and breakfast cereals to snacks and beverages. Beyond its direct consumption, maize plays a crucial role in animal husbandry, providing a vital source of nutrition for livestock, poultry, and aquaculture industries. Furthermore, maize holds significance in various industrial sectors. Its byproducts, such as cornstarch and corn oil, are essential ingredients in food processing and the manufacturing of numerous products. Additionally, maize is utilized for producing ethanol, a renewable biofuel used as an alternative to fossil fuels, and bioplastics, which contribute to sustainable packaging and reduce environmental impact.
